Why didn’t WE think of that?

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

From Advertising Age, a story of a Brooklyn couple who negotiated sponsoship deals for their wedding, covering almost all of the cost.

Sure, the invites probably said “This wedding brought to you by 1-800 Flowers”, but it’s still quite a clever idea. In fact, if there are any companies out there looking to sponsor a wedding in Charlotte, NC… call me.

Less than 5 months to go!

Sorry for the lack of updates, everyone. It is not from lack of progress, just lack of spare time.

We’ve started our registry – one place down, two more to go. I’ll post the links when they are ready, but we’re registering at Pottery Barn, Target and Williams-Sonoma.

We have flowers – I met with the florist to decide on the scheme, and we came up with something great. Our florist is so fantastic – I HIGHLY recommend Crawford & Co. for all your floral needs.

One thing I forgot to mention before was that we decided on the colors – shades of blue and green. By saying “shades” I actually mean “too picky to pick an actual color so we just picked one end of the color spectrum”.

I have my wedding shoes (which were a LOT harder to find than I thought) and my veil material (I’m not spending $200+ on a piece of $5 tulle clipped to a 10 cent plastic clip that takes 30 minutes to make. So I am making my veil.)

Unfortunately, the event coordinator at our reception venue (Providence Country Club) has accepted a position at another company. She was a big reason why we chose the place for the reception. I hope her replacement works out well.

More updates later when we have a few more things finalized…
