I accomplished the one major thing I had to do for the wedding today: I booked the honeymoon. Go me! I actually spent about 2 months on the weekends and after work researching where to go, how long to stay, all-inclusive vs. pay as you go, adults only, etc, etc, etc.
Finally, after much deliberation, I settled on The Excellence Riviera Cancun, about 15 miles south of Cancun, 15 miles north of Playa del Carmen, and about a 30 minute ferry ride to Cozumel. Find details about the resort here.
There were about 3 resorts I was heavily favoring in the area, all of which were 5 star, had great reviews, lots of booze and good food. Ultimately, the deciding factor for this resort was the lazy river and that it has a billiards table. Karen loves to play pool, but we never go anywhere that has a pool table. Well baby, our honeymoon resort will have one!

This place looks awesome, and reminds of the fact that Mark and I never had a honeymoon. Can you imagine packing up the day after your wedding to move to Texas? In the middle of the summer? Bleech! Mark loves me–that proves it.
We’re thinking about Russia for a honeymoon, which granted, would spark a lot of, “This isn’t Russia, is this Russia?” comments, but we’ll see. I can’t take vacation until April anyway (stupid kids always get sick in the winter). April is gorgeous in Russia, right?
