What’s new at the House of Garrett?

Hi everyone! The next few ANTMs are going to be delayed a bit as Erik and I prepare for traveling the next couple of weeks. Also, I need to think of more “Wanna be on top?” puns. And actually see the episodes. So I thought I’d give a quick update with what we’ve been up to and what’s coming up.

In the past couple of months, we have (in no particular order):

  • Celebrated our first anniversary
  • Ate year-old cake and declared it “eh”
  • Got a Wii
  • worked as crew members with Pizza, Tracy and the Hoechs at the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer (more on that when I get off my butt and post pictures)
  • I traveled to Reno and declared it a city I never want to visit again
  • Erik took over my fantasy football team because I was doing great until I kept forgetting to set my lineup, which deemed it an utter waste of $35
  • celebrated the Red Sox victory
  • had another book club meeting – this one about The Kite Runner, which we talked about for all of three minutes.
  • The girls and I went to the Southern Women’s Christmas show for an assault on the senses (pictures coming)
  • Started looking into buying our first home

Am I forgetting anything, E?

In the next couple of months:

  • I am traveling to Ontario (California, not Canada) for work until the week of Thanksgiving. Hopefully Ontario doesn’t smell like Reno did.
  • E and I are going to Fort Worth, TX to spend Thanksgiving with the Vigelands
  • Then, E is traveling for work for a couple of days
  • Then, I am traveling again the first week of December to Miami Beach for work
  • THEN, we will be able to spend some time again on the new home search.
  • THEN we travel to Kingman, AZ for Christmas with the Garrett-Smiths.

That’s a lot of stuff!

  1. Very glad to hear that about Reno. I actually did a phone interview way back when about a possible job there, but just got a lot of bad vibes from the whole deal.

    But I do love blackjack.

    OH, and babies.

  2. Karen says:

I didn’t see one baby in Reno, come to think of it! I bet they were all cashed in for chips and smokes.

  3. Heather says:

New house search? Are you looking into moving? Will you two be able to make it up to Ohio for New Years?

  4. Fitz says:

New house search! Yay! I know that it’s expensive, but you’ll love it here.

(you were talking about moving here, right?)

  5. You can cash babies in for chips and smokes? Motherhood is going to be SO MUCH BETTER than I ever imagined….

Re: Forgetting anything…not that I can think of, other than work is kicking my butt right now.

Re: Ohio New Years…sorry kids, I have to work the 31st and the second so it doesn’t look like we’ll be able to make it.

Re: moving to Steamboat…I wish! We can’t even get enough time off to come visit you guys, let alone look for houses in Steamboat.

Re: smokes for babies…sounds like a program the police would put in place to get kids out of the hands of crack heads. Like shoes for guns.

  7. Karen says:

    Good combo comment, honey.

    Hey Fitz, Ontario>>>>>>>>Reno

  8. Fitz says:

OK, so it’s greater. But are there DOLPHINS?

    WHERE ARE THOSE PICTURES?!

  9. Uncle LeeChee says:

Reno isn’t as bad as that Laughlin Musical TV Show was, but still, it’s Reno so I know what Karen means.

When I smoked, drank and gambled back in the day, I thought Reno was AWESOME. Best Blackjack Tables I’ve ever played at. Nice Golf too.

Where was Smokes for Babies program when I smoked the old Marlborows Ultra Lights? Them heaters aint cheap no more!
