After taking a night off last week to see Cloverfield on Friday (not worth it), I spent Saturday working with the tile saw and making all the cuts for the kitchen. It took longer than I expected as there were more detailed cuts than I was anticipating, with a lot of nooks and crannys so to speak. But I finished Saturday evening in time for Karen and I to head over to Best Buy, where we plopped a good chunk of change down on a new Washer and Dryer, Refrigerator, Range, and Dishwasher. After that we had a very late dinner at Olive Garden, and that’s when the fun began….
I got some terrible food poisoning, either from Olive Garden or from lunch at Showmars from Friday afternoon. That became a possibility as I found out another person I work with also got food poisoning around the exact same time I did early Sunday morning, and we both had chicken.
I was pretty much down for the count Sunday, but I had to return the tile saw by 10:30 Sunday morning. I started getting sick around 4:00 AM Sunday morning, and pretty much kept getting sick every 5-20 minutes after that until 5PM sunday. So needless to say, driving 30 minutes down to our new house and putting the tile saw into Karen’s car to take back to the rental place was not fun.
I’m feeling better now, but we lost all work that we were going to do on Sunday, and I haven’t been able to make it back over there since. I still need to mortar the cut tiles in place, and then grout to finish the kitchen floor. Then I’ll need to buy new quarter round and attach to the baseboards, then paint the baseboards before the kitchen is completely done.
The only room that still needs to be painted before we move in is the master bedroom, which Karen needs my help with to reach the ceiling. We have a lot to do, and still need to make some headway packing. Should be fun, wish us luck!
ETA: We also need to paint the utility room, and do the trim in the office. And I’d also like to finish the master bathroom.
You guys, he was super duper sick. He could barely watch the Super Bowl.
Gross–food poisoning is no bueno. I had to bail on a full day of patients when I was the only doc in the office only a couple months into my job here because I had been puking all night and could barely get around.
Ahh, trim. I vaguely remember what that looks like…
Give me a shout if you need some help on Saturday or Sunday. I might even be able to convince Shawn to help out.
Food poisoning is horrible. I had Salmonella once from Chicken – worst 16 hours of my life. I quit eating “the Chicken” for a few months after that.
